Brad believes that book publishing is where the craft of storytelling, commerce and creativity join forces. With in-house and freelance book cover art director experience, Brad is perfectly positioned to bring any publishing project to life.

Having worked across multiple categories and genres, for both Australian and international titles, Brad is adept at designing trade paperbacks, hardback editions, illustrated coffee-table books, collector’s edition jackets, your next bestsellers, backlist revitalisation, revamped or updated covers and stylish B formats that give great books a second life.

Brad works closely and collaboratively with the publishing team to produce beautiful and commercially appealing book covers and internals. He is passionate about using his design expertise to assist publisher vision, market and product knowledge to win over consumer hearts. Best of all, Brad’s experience with both Publishing and Marketing departments, respectively, means he designs with product and promotion in mind.


BOOK COVERS


Once briefed and upon reading an extract and synopsis, Brad likes to provide:

  • An initial range of distinct cover directions
  • Development of the top three cover concepts 
  • Approved front cover artwork for print, ebook and audio editions
  • Full covers for print editions (including last-minute endorsements)
  • Case, embellishment plates and endpapers when needed
  • Digital covers for all online / retailer usage
  • A suite of assets for marketing and sales purposes, including 3D packshots
  • A package of the InDesign cover for archiving

BOOK INTERNALS


Once briefed and upon reading an extract and synopsis, Brad likes to provide:

  • Two distinct internal directions including contents page and sample chapter
  • Development of the preferred layout concept 
  • Approved internal artwork for print and ebook editions
  • Full pages and spreads for the print edition
  • Sample spreads for all online / retailer usage
  • A suite of internal assets for marketing and sales purposes
  • An InDesign package of the internal pages for archiving
